The Cottage

This was once the central hub of the farm because out front, between the Cottage and the gazebo, the farm hosted yearling thoroughbred sales. Now it’s a peaceful location to take a deep breath, yet close enough to town to enjoy amenities. There is a Guest Home next door, a gazebo with comfortable seating, a flower garden, and sheep all within looking distance. Sit and sip or walk around the farm and enjoy the tree lined driveways and horses. This is a smoke / vape / drug free property. The two bedrooms located upstairs have serene views overlooking pastures. The large barn doors downstairs can be opened to let in natural light through the glass doors, or closed for more privacy. Houstondale farm was once a bustling thoroughbred farm but is now a location that raises, trains and sells Hanoverians specifically for the sport of dressage. There are also Southdown Babydoll sheep that are raised solely for the purpose of their wool, which is the caliber of cashmere. The horses love attention, but we do ask that you don't enter the pastures with any of the animals and do not open any gates. The farm is a great place to walk around. We just ask that you do not enter any of the other homes, the pool house (someone lives there), or the pastures with the animals. If you walk up past the barn at the top of the hill, there is a back gate and some quiet roads to walk bordering fields and the back of the industrial park. It's safe and quiet. I, as the host, live on the property. I work from home, but typically you'll find me in the barn, and esepcially at chore time. I have my phone if you have questions or need help with something, and I'll say hi if I see you. As to how much interaction you want is up to you. I have tried to include as much info as possible into the books that are in each of the homes so you can also have the tools you need for exploring the area. There are lots of great places to visit and things to do in the area. Please do not hesitate to reach out. Some things to note: If there is a need for an additional person, there is a $25 dollar per night up charge. No pets. While you may not be allergic, the next person may be. No events or parties without permission. We do have an event contract if you would be interested in using Houstondale as a host site. This listing has one parking space next to the front door. Should you need a second space, we may ask you to park near the barn within a short walking distance to the cottage.
